I use shape, texture and color to create hand-built clay vignettes.
My creative process begins in the middle of the night when ideas pop into my mind. After jotting them down, I rough them out in a sketchbook. The final results are a conglomeration of visual concepts, life experiences and wordplay translated into unexpected sculptural art that merges emotional connection with fun and insight.
Background:
BFA from California College of the Arts.
Studied Art at the University of California, Davis and the University of California, Berkeley.
In addition to being a sculptor, my cartoons, writing and illustrations have appeared in magazines, books, newspapers, advertising agencies and greeting cards. I live on Whidbey Island in Washington State with my husband, two Yorkies, many wild rabbits, California quail and white-tailed deer.
